The typical CEV for NM400 ranges between 0.45% and 0.58%, depending on plate thickness. Our metallurgical control reduces Carbon and Manganese while using trace amounts of Boron and Molybdenum. This structure improves weldability and minimizes preheat requirements.
Yes. NM400 can be welded using standard processes like SMAW, GMAW (MIG/MAG), or FCAW. We recommend using low-hydrogen electrodes (such as E8018-G or equivalent) and maintaining preheat temperatures of 100°C to 150°C for plates thicker than 20mm to prevent hydrogen cracking.
